"Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken" is one of my favorite Hymns in the Hymn Book. It is optional if you wish to play it.
Dear Colleagues and Friends of GUMMSAA,
Today is the 15th of February, 2020 that I am writing this message. Six months have passed since our 15th Annual Conference in Philadelphia in 2019. In the next six months, we should be holding our 16th Annual Conference in Providence, Rhode Island. Unfortunately, we did not have a smooth transition from the past administration to this administration. Financial records and financial reports were turned in late, which created difficulties in making our budget. The 501(c)3 which we were depending on to use as one of the main supporting documents in writing our grant proposal is still not yet acquired. The Website is expected to be launched shortly. A website is never actually completed because there should be updating as often as possible. But so far, the basic framework or structure of the site is already formulated. All we need now is to input data, information, videos, and photographs as we receive them.
These have been our challenges, but we are determined to move forward with our work and fulfill those promises we made when we accepted your call to serve. The grant proposals are in the making. As soon as our 501(c)3 is acquired, the proposals will be sent out to the different selected doners we are cultivating. Efforts are being made to begin to plan for the 16th Annual Reunion Conference in Rhode Island.
The purposes of our Website are to use this site as our promotional tool as well as our source of information, announcements, and documentation. The day we launch our site, we will do our optmization so that our site will show up immediately for those who are looking for our site. That will provide easy access and user friendly. This site is going to be active for 3 years and renewable after the 3 years. We want as much infrmation as we possibly can post on our site, I will depend on all of you to send photos of the activities in your region. Let us know what your region is doing so they can be documented. The minutes from our monthly meetings will be posted on our site. Yearly Regional Reports will be posted. Activities at Annual Conferences will be posted. We will welcome Videos, print photos, and other vital statistics or reports from the various regions. Each region has a blog specifically designed for each region. You are welcome to post all your important activities (Relating to GUMMSAA) you deem fit from your region.
We also have noticed that GUMS has a newsletter. We will create a partnership with them so that they can enrich our site and we too can be of assistance when they need us. This will be a cross-fertilization process with reciprocity and mutual respect. They are on the ground there and can give us verifiable and substantial information on what is going on at the Ganta Mission Station.
We have monthly telephone conferences presently on the fist Sunday of each month. Every GUMMSAA member, former students, graduate or non-graduate, former students, former or present Missionary or worker on Ganta Mission, all of you are welome to dail-in and participate in our telephone conference. The conference starts at 8:00 PM. USA Eastern Standard Time. Here is the number to dail.
(605) 475-412 and the Access Code is 9452031#
We also have a list serv with the email addresses of those who have given us their email addresses. We use those to send out communication to all our members. If you are not on the list serv, and you want to receive communication from us or you want to communicate to us, please send us your email address. We also post some of our announcements on Messenger. At times we send information to your phone. Now, most of our announcements will be on the website. You will be able to visit the site as often as you wish to do so. Using your phone and your computer, you can access our website. www.gummsaa-usa.org
One of our immediate goals is to install a Robot Phone Calling System whereby all members will receive calls about events and announcements directly on their phone. As our membership increases, no one person will be sitting on the phone all day calling members and reminding them for meetings or events. The system will be automated. We are in the process of implementing that plan now.
My prayer is that even though we have had difficulties during our transitional period, this will now be behind us and that we can now focus on our job. If you need to reach me, just call me or email me or send me a text message. Thank you.
Yours in Christian Commitment and in the Cause of Ganta United Methodist Mission,
Dr. Nya Kwiawon Taryor, Sr.
