1. The Chairperson of the Elections Commission shall preside over the election of GUMMSAA officers and members of the board of directors.
2. The chairperson shall explain the guidelines and establish who is eligible to vote in the election.
3. The chairperson shall announce the names of persons who have applied for election to various officers or the board of directors prior to accepting additional nominations from the floor of the NRC. Only members in good financial standing may vote or be voted for in the election.
4. Any member in good financial standing and in attendance at the NRC is eligible for election to any position.
5. Only persons who have applied in writing prior to the NRC or are nominated from the floor of the NRC can be elected to office.
6. Election will be conducted by secret ballot, counted and certified by members of the Election Commission, and announced at the NRC on the day of balloting.
7. Candidates for various positions will be given a limit of 2 minutes each to speak about their reason for seeking elective office prior to balloting.
8. To be elected to any office, a person must receive at lest a simple majority of votes cast. In the event that there are more than two nominees for a position and simple majority is not achieved, a run-off shall be conducted between the two top vote-getters for a simple majority.
9. A losing nominee may object to the result of an election immediately after the results of that election is announced. In such event, the Elections Commission must immediately recount the ballots in the presence of the objecting nominee and the winning nominee to clarify the results.
10. Upon completion of the allotting, the Elections Commission Chairperson shall announce the certification of the results in the presence of the NRC. In addition, the chairperson must certify those results in writing prior to their installation.
11. Any nominee who does not win election in one office may be nominated for another position during the election, provided that such nominee shall be in compliance with all constitutional requirements for that position.
12. No member of the Elections Commission shall be elected to any position during the election in which he or she serves on the Commission.
13. Every effort shall be made to ensure that all regions are represented on the executive Commission and Board of directors of GUMMSAA-USA.
